How to obtain a Thailand marriage visa
A marriage visa under Thai immigration laws in Thailand is issued to foreigners who officially married a Thai national, comply with the regulations for a Thai marriage visa and apply to stay long term in Thailand on the grounds of marriage. A marriage under Thai immigration laws is the government recognized and in at the amphur (or in Bangkok 'Khet') registered marriage in which individuals have united their lives legally, economically and emotionally (and not a Buddhist ceremonial marriage).
A Thailand marriage visa is a non immigrant visa followed by a long term stay application at the immigration inside Thailand. The immigration in Thailand will issue the applicant permission to stay in Thailand but requires the following documents and conditions for the approval of the application:
• 4 by 6 cm photos
• Marriage certificate (original and copies)
• ID card and House registration of Thai spouse (original and copies)
• The foreigner should have a saving account in Thailand with at least 400,000 baht (bank statement together with a certificate letter form the bank). Bank account book. (Original and copies). Checks will be made in future to ensure that the cash is not simply put in a bank and then removed.
• Photos wedding ceremony. Local immigration officers will also visit your home to verify that you really do live together as man and wife.
